What i want

My aim, with Auckland Amazing Race for Charity, is to make a positive difference in society, by using sport, as a tool to change the lives of children; to make them ambassadors in their communities, to help encourage a strong moral standing, to have them understand the importance of a strong education, and to believe in living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

What i'M PlanNING

My goal is to assist with children’s personal growth in life skills and education. The aim is to see them live a daily routine that includes an hour of after school education, where the charity will ensure all school work and homework is up to date before starting any sporting activities. This is carried out in an environment in which the children learn how to take control of their lives as well as their futures through positive influences and mentorship.

I want kids to experience the sheer exhilaration that an outdoor sports lifestyle and culture offers.

the writing on the wall

The majority of children that I aim to help, with your help, are from homes where they are left to their own devices, are targets for gangs to peddle drugs and encourage addiction in children, they are not exposed to adults with healthy and balanced lifestyles and unfortunately in some cases living arrangements include some form of abusive behaviour.

how it will impact their lives

in just a few ways of many

Children are taught to take care of their allocated gear and take responsibility for their lives each time they enter sports grounds.

It takes commitment to ensure you practice and perfect the technique of all types of sports.  They need to ensure that they meet engagements that they agree to, whether it is a competition or a scheduled group activity.

Sport has been shown to increase levels of endorphins (happy hormone) in the body. For many of these children it is a welcome distraction from the daily torment they face in their home situations as it provides an emotional outlet they wouldn’t otherwise have.

I hope to build long lasting relationships with each of the charities that will help develop their sport skills and life skills, to get them to the point where they too, can teach others the joy of having sport in ones life.  Creating a lifestyle for themselves where they become adults who contribute in a meaningful way to society.

I’d like to push them to reach for their goals no matter how big they may seem. A high priority factor is to help them realise that there is a lot more to life than what they have been exposed to.

All they should do is dream big, set goals and work hard, but above all, allow themselves some time to be children, have fun on the field and to make happy childhood memories.

No one can perfect a sport overnight – the skill of rugby, netball, tennis, surfing, skating, diving, etc. takes time, dedication and hard work to achieve.

Children are taught that if they do not look after Mother Earth:  our oceans, beaches and land they will not be able to enjoy them in future.

In order to become a successful sports man/woman you need to be fit, eat healthy and ensure that your body can take the knocks that the exercise puts out and if we can, feed these kids while they're in our care - even if that means their only meal of the day.

Send me an email from the contact us page. I'd love to hear from you!

Auckland Amazing Race For Charity was created to share my love for outdoor sports and nature with our favourite NZ City, in the hopes of raising enough money to help kids obtain a better future for themselves.

My name is Helga B and I’m a near-resident of New Zealand.  Having grown up in one of the most beautiful regions of South Africa, you’ll understand why nature is so close to my heart.

This race is not a registered Charity.  I aim to donate the funds to charities that need it most. It is a race, started by a girl with a dream to make a positive change in someone’s life.

Proceeds from the event will go to Sport NZ to disburse throughout their sports projects.  I will update the site as I receive feedback about the things they get up to.

Donations and volunteers are always encouraged.
